We organise weekly and monthly structured training sessions, suitable for all abilities, throughout the year for members and non-members. Off-Season training is focused on getting the basics right, shifting towards performance training once the season gets under way.
Details and booking of club training and other events is available on our event calendar. Unfortunately, we are not able to train juniors (U18) at present.
Pool Swimming (all Year)
- Day: Tuesday evening
- Time: 2030 – 2130 (in the pool)
- Venue: St James Swimming Pool, King’s Lynn. PE30 1NY
- Cost: £3 members (£5 Non-Members)
- Online Booking Required
We have 3 lanes, and as a general guide we use one for coaching technique and the other 2 for a structured training session. Numbers per lane are restricted because we accommodate swimmers of nearly all abilities (so long as you can swim unaidied for at least 200m), so we ask swimmers to register online to avoid being turned away before the session starts. Full details of the swim sessions themselves are available from our event calendar, along with alternative sessions in WIsbech, run by our firendly swim coach Matt.
Open Water Swimming (Spring/Summer)
- Day: Wed/Fri/Sat (Changes through the season)
- Time: Varies
- Venue: Premier Water Ski School, Pentney Lakes.
- Cost: £5
- Members and non-members
We no longer organise our own OWS sessions and instead make use of our friends at Premier Water Ski School's sessions, meaning you can just turn up and pay swim. Our members swim at most sessions, and are more than happy to swim with you if you don't have a swim buddy. The season is normally from mid-April to mid-September and while wetsuits are optional, we generally recommend them until June when the lake is normally nudging 20degC. We do organise special coached sessions throughout the season for anybody new to open water swimming, or want help to improve their racecraft.
Indoor Cycling/Turbo Training
- Day: Off-Season
- Time: Various
- Venue: Online (Zwift/MyWhoosh)
- Cost: Free for members
These are ideal to build fitness and strength over the winter as well as build stamina and endurance ready to hit the roads in April. These sessions are intensive but suitable for all abilities and everyone follows the same session but at their own pace/capability and on their own turbo trainer (smart or otherwise). One of our coaches leads the session and the sessions are normally organised on Facebook.
Brick/Duathlon (Run/Bike/Run) Training
- Day/Time: Sunday AM
- Venue: Ashwicken/Hunstanton
- Cost: Free for members (£3 Non-Members)
We try to organise at least one brick session per month, giving members the chance to practice running off the bike in a safe and fun club environment. Bricks are invaluable for as they don't only train your brain to run off the bike, but allows you to practice your T2 prowess.
Transition Training
- Day: Weekend
- Time: Various
- Venue: Lynnsport Track
- Cost: £3 for members (£5 Non-Members)
Usually organised in the run up to specific events, such as our popular Sunny Hunny Triathlon. These coached sessions introduce and help you improve all aspects of transition, from setting up to mounting and dismounting your bike.
Run Training
While we do have occasional semi-informal evening runs, we don't coach running because the area has a number of exceptional Athletics clubs which a large number of our members are also members of. We are happy to provide details of local running clubs if you do want some structured run sessions. One club runs an excellent cross-country series over the winter which is great for keeping you focused during the off-season.
Bike Training
The club organises informal rides out over the summer months which are fun, but if you are looking for something more involved then the club is a Cycling Time Trial (CTT) member, allowing our own members to take part in any CTT event. We have a local cycling clubs who organise time trials, which we can make full use of. Dates and locations are uploaded to our website's event calendar as an when we find out when they are.
